These days, manufacturers everywhere are looking for ways to cut costs and improve efficiency. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software can certainly streamline operations, but many manufacturers don’t have the resources to deploy with the risks, costs commonly associated with ERP implementation. Fairbault Woolen Mills, a 143-year-old manufacturing company reopened its doors in 2011 with a cloud based manufacturing software system from Microsoft Dynamics GP with significant cost and time savings.
“One of the main benefits of the cloud is that we were able to have our software outsourced, hosted, upgraded and maintained, which is a huge cost benefit to the company,” said Carmen Dorr, Controller, Fairbault Woolen mills. “The software will reduce any friction in the business process so it’s a huge benefit when you’re in a manufacturing operation and trying to keep the operations running on a day to day basis.”
Faribault Woolen Mills is a manufacturer of wool-based products such as blankets. The company is based in Faribault, Minnesota and currently has 80 employees. By deploying a hosted, cloud based manufacturing software solution and financial management, Faribault Woolen Mill minimizes the need to maintain in-house IT management and administration.
“That was the beauty of going with Microsoft. We really didn’t have to have a huge deployment of capital to get into a state of the art software system,” said Chuck Mooty, President/CEO, Fairbault Woolen Mill.
