Predicting the future can be a tricky business, but when it comes to the future of enterprise there is more to it than tarot cards and tea leaves. And sometimes all you have to do is read the writing on the wall. Well Gartner recently named the ten IT trends and technologies that will have strategic impact in 2013, at their Gartner Symposium/ITxpo conference.
Among them were the increase in use of mobile devices, personal cloud, strategic big data, analytics and “internet of things”. All of these topics have one thing in common—cloud computing.
Ok, so maybe Gartner isn’t really shocking anybody with this news, but it does go to show that the time has passed when executives could remain on the fence about their cloud strategy. It won’t be long before cloud computing is the standard, and adopting a solution like ERP cloud now can put a company in a head start position when that day comes.
