SmartLists in Dynamics GP

User-friendly reporting can be an issue in almost any ERP system. ERP systems are great at storing data and processing transactions, but reporting can be a challenge. I heard a funny comment from a client once who said, “SAP R/3 is a place where data goes to die.”

Dynamics GP provides a number of reporting tools that allow you to get information from the system. Probably one of the most popular is SmartLists. SmartLists is an d-hoc reporting tool that allows users to get the data they want from the system and easily export it to Excel if desired. The reports generated from SmartLists also act as a navigation tool. For example, if you create a list of vendors, you can click on one of the results and immediately be taken tot the specific vendor’s master file. You can also open transactions from the SmartList results.

Good morning, I’m having problem with Account Transaction Templates Smartlist from Microsoft. Before making any change on it with SLB, I try it and the result are not the same as with built in Smartlist?!?

    Any clue?

    Regards

Most of the standard SmartLists in Dynamics GP are based on SQL Views. So instead of looking at SQL tables in SLB, you should find the appropriate SQL View for your SmartList.

You will need to make sure that you have security access to use the SQL Views.
